Pair of Sino-Tibetan Silver Lamp Stands, Late 19th–Early 20th Century
A finely made pair of silver ritual lamp stands from the Tibetan cultural region, decorated with lotus-petal trays and octagonal repoussé bases. Originally used as butter-lamp holders on an altar, they have been—and can be—used as candle holders today. A beautifully detailed and decorative pair.
A fine matched pair of high-grade silver ritual lamp stands from the Tibetan cultural sphere. Each stand is shaped with an elegant lotus-petal tray and a tapered octagonal pedestal richly decorated with repoussé floral motifs and scrolling tendrils. The central cylindrical opening would have held a small butter-lamp cup used on a domestic or monastic altar.
The decoration shows a blended Sino-Tibetan aesthetic, combining Tibetan lotus symbolism with Chinese-influenced engraved floral scrolls. The craftsmanship is crisp and detailed, with excellent surface texture and a harmonious, symmetrical design.
