Description

Native American beaded Pouch — Blackfoot (Siksika / Niitsitapi), Late 19th–Early 20th Century

A finely crafted Native American beaded pouch from the Blackfoot people of the Northern Plains. Made of soft tanned hide and decorated in classic Blackfoot geometric style, the pouch features bold stepped motifs in blue, green, red, and white lane-stitch beadwork. At the center is a circular rosette design with radiating elements, a pattern strongly associated with Plains ceremonial and decorative work.

The upper section is finished with a drawstring closure, and the lower edge is adorned with long multicoloured beaded fringe, lending movement and colour typical of Blackfoot aesthetic traditions. The workmanship, bead palette, and layout are consistent with late 19th to early 20th century examples from the region.

Accompanied by a note stating it was acquired directly from the Blackfoot people, supporting its original cultural attribution.

Size 27 x 13 cm including beaded bottom fringe. Condition Fine
