Description

Large Ancient Greek Terracotta Draped Female Figure (Tanagra Tradition)
Greece, Late Classical to Early Hellenistic period, circa 4th–3rd century BC

A larger and particularly elegant ancient Greek terracotta figure of a draped woman, standing upright and holding an attribute to the front. The finely articulated drapery falls in deep, rhythmic folds, accentuating the elongated proportions typical of high-quality Tanagra figures.

The surface preserves extensive remains of white slip and faint traces of original polychromy, enhancing both its visual presence and historical integrity. Figures of this type were prized in antiquity for their refined depiction of feminine grace and were commonly associated with domestic interiors or funerary deposits.

A strong and decorative example of Classical Greek terracotta sculpture, well suited to both private collections and scholarly display.
